I edited this documentary, which follows three families – Japanese, Hungarian, and Sardinian-Dutch – as they return “home” after decades as migrants in West Germany and the Netherlands. Directed and shot by the families’ own daughters (Rita Bakacs, Masayo Kajimura, Graziella Tomasi), the film offers an intimate, multigenerational portrait of migration and re-migration, tracing how the meaning of “home” and “foreign” shifts over a lifetime. Funded by the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius.
