How can a beloved 19th‑century epic help us tell today’s stories of identity, movement, and belonging? With Tracing Kiều, I hope to find out – by inviting creatives of the international Vietnamese diaspora to respond to The Tale of Kiều in their own mediums.
Tracing Kiều is envisioned as an international, cross-media anthology inviting creatives of the global Vietnamese diaspora to respond to The Tale of Kiều – through text, images, hybrid formats, or documentation of spatial and time-based works. We reinterpret the traditional practice of bói Kiều – opening its pages at random for guidance – as a creative prompt: open the poem, take a couplet, scene, or character, and let it spark something new.
Join us in turning a private practice into a collective conversation. Pending funding, the anthology will expand into an exhibition, public program, and digital platform. We are seeking contributors and collaborators, both individual and institutional, who share our vision.
